Under the title “FRAGILE. European correspondences” 28 authors from all over Europe have been invited by the network of literature houses to pick up both meanings in a dialogue of several months: They are to enter into a correspondence with a partner of his or her choosing on current social, cultural oder political issues, that seem to them important and precious but are at the same time in danger of being questioned or even destroyed. Because: The “European experiment“, the attempt to envisage a transnational community and to stabilize this in a political and cultural sense, remains a set-up of continuing political and cultural explosiveness. Many authors live in countries other than their birthplace, they travel a lot and are in contact with colleagues from other European countries, sounding out the moods and dicussions about our continent. We wanted to know what they think.
“die horen. Zeitschrift für Literatur, Kunst und Kritik”, Bd. 265, as a collection of the correspondences is available from february 27th.
